This is how we get on the record. Three phone calls. Three City Council meetings.
We are asking every mobile home park resident in Encinitas to do two things this month: call three City Council members, and show up to speak at the October Council meetings. Both matter. The calls open the door. Showing up and speaking is what gets it into the public record.
What we’re asking for
Residents of mobile home parks throughout Encinitas want to be placed on the agenda to speak at the Council’s October meetings. We need Council members to know this is coming, and we need residents in the room when it happens.
Call these three Council members, today
- Jim O’Hara, Deputy Mayor: 760-633-2620
- Luke Shaffer, Council Member, District 1: 760-633-2622
- Marco San Antonio, Council Member, District 4: 760-633-2623
“This is [your name], a homeowner at [your park]. Our space rents are climbing suddenly and steeply, upwards of fifteen percent for long-term residents. We own our homes and rent the ground under them, and the homes cannot be moved, so we cannot negotiate and we cannot leave. My neighbors and I would like thirty minutes with you next week. More than forty of us met with Mayor Ehlers on Tuesday, and we would like the same conversation with you. We are not asking you to commit to anything, just to hear it. Thank you.”
Say who you are, say where you live, and say what you’re asking for. Staff log calls by issue, and a short, clear call counts.
Then show up: three meetings, mark your calendar
Wednesday, October 14 · Wednesday, October 21 · Wednesday, October 28, all at 6:00 PM, Encinitas City Hall, Council Chambers, 505 S. Vulcan Avenue.
A call gets us heard. A room full of residents gets us taken seriously. Bring a neighbor if you can.
