We own our homes. We rent the land under them — and we can't just pack up and leave when the rent jumps. SOS Encinitas is a coalition of residents from Encinitas mobile and manufactured home parks working together, with GSMOL, to get a fairness ordinance in front of the Encinitas City Council.
SOS Encinitas (Save Our Spaces) is the public name of the Encinitas Manufactured Home Owner's Coalition and its Encinitas GSMOL chapter — residents organizing together across all eleven Encinitas manufactured and mobile home parks, not just one.

Manufactured home parks aren't ordinary rentals.
Residents own their homes but rent the ground underneath — and a manufactured home can't simply be picked up and moved. That makes residents a captive audience: when the ground rent jumps, there's nowhere else to go. It should be a mutual arrangement between two investors, the resident bringing the home and the owner bringing the land. Too often, it isn't treated that way.
We're asking the City of Encinitas for a fairness ordinance — not a subsidy, but a balance against a contract that only one side can walk away from. And this isn't a seniors' issue: Encinitas manufactured home parks, including ours, are all-ages communities.
